User experience and interface design is something we should be passionate about. It directly relates to how successful a design is and the outcomes achieved by the end product. It's a combination of technical, physical, psychological knowledge applied to the creative through experience and design. I began a long term consultation contract recently and it required a brush up of my skills. Most of the following relates to web design but the principles can relate to any project.

What I wanted to outline here is a starting point. Refresh, relearn or gain new knowledge in the vast field of UX and UI. Things are best learned during the journey so start digging within these links and begin marking down things that resonate with you. If anything, looking through will give you a new perspective on design and how it relates to your various fields of expertise.



Whitney Hess offers some incredible website links for diving into the field of user experience and educating yourself. Siteinspire has an insightful, detailed interview with Danny Nathan of Poke NYC. Great to see innovation across various mediums.An extensive article on managing UI complexity. Mr Walkin goes into detail dissecting examples from various complicated scenarios. A user experience 'honeycomb' infographic that summarises UX priorities. The Carsonified blog states invaluable fundamentals for interface design. Common sense but poignant details. New thinking surrounding users web scrolling habits. The fold is no longer a big factor, allow yourself some space and free up the interface. Get inspired by some different ways to present data.
