American Comics Illustrators
Here are a few comic artists from American publishers that have always appealed to me. These guys are by no means underground or unknown but always do striking work, heavy on style and usually team up with awesome colourists. Some of the story lines have been hit and miss but the artwork is phenomenal. Note this is a personal selection and there are plenty of other amazing artists there that haven't been included.

Joe Madureira

My long time favourite Joe Mad. Fairly heavily influenced by Japanese comic art but in recent times has started to develop some great style and grit. Every page of the Battle Chasers series was an artwork in itself. Currently drawing #1-6 of The Ultimates.

Ariel Olivetti

I first saw Ariel's artwork in Punisher War Journal during the Civil War period. I was floored at the depth and feeling portrayed in each page. It was an amazing story and visually one of the best series I've read. I can't get enough of the work of Olivetti.

Humberto Ramos

Humberto has a slightly deformed style which exaggerates features and movements. The images jump out of the page and has brought new life to many old tired characters. Best known for his series Crimson, I believe he's currently working on Wolverine but has a new series coming out called The Runaways.

Don Figueroa

Don illustrated the new generation of Transformers comics and re-birthed the same feelings I had watching the characters when I was younger. That's no easy feat. A recognisable style and interesting perspectives reward the reader with a dynamic book.

Chris Bachalo

These days Chris seems to aim for difference in his work and I think it really pays off for him. Influenced by Joe Mad in his early days of comics, the characters for Steampunk were progressive and his representation of X-Men pushed the boundaries of quality in comics. Currently drawing X-Men but will be making a new Spiderman series soon.

And for colours, you just can't go past Liquidology! A veteran of the industry and often imitated.
